Bye, Bye Bucket List Trip

 Jan 4, 2024

Well the trip finally wound down. Typing this on Jan 15, 2024. There's a reason for the long gap, but I'll get to that later.

The last day aboard the Majestic Princess was pretty relaxed as we chugged back to Sydney, AU. We spent time up on Deck 17 at the Hollywood Pool and the hot tubs as had become our custom. Small noisy children arrived around 11:30 am so we decamped for our final lunch aboard ship. We decided to try lunch in one of the formal dining rooms (the Allegro) for the first time,  We got seated next to a couple from near Brisbane, AU - Loretta & Michael.  Loretta was a hoot and we chatted all through lunch.  She is a breast cancer survivor with lots of stories to tell. We commiserated over the problems with trying to get coffee served and refilled in a timely manner throughout the cruise!  See - it wasn't just us!

The afternoon was spent packing up our suitcases & carry-ons. Our assigned luggage group was Brown 2. We had to have suitcases packed and outside our cabin door before we went to dinner at 6 pm!

We were a bit bedraggled in dress for dinner, but it was a festive affair in the Symphony Dining room. Waiters did a parade through the dining room with flaming (fake) baked Alaska!

 The big baked Alaska!

After dinner we made our way back to Effy Jewelry on Deck 7 for their final raffle of the cruise. I didn't win the prize, but I did end up with a final piece of jewelry - a pair of sapphire/diamond earrings - and we got a picture of us with salesman, Jack, who made a small fortune off us during the cruise!

Knowing that our day on January 5 would be very long, we made it an early night and were back in our cabin by 10 pm.
